What should we do in Santa Fe, New Mexico?
Q. We'll arrive in Santa Fe on a Sunday evening in May around 6 p.m., and we would like to have dinner there that night. Keeping in mind that it's a Sunday evening, what is a restaurant that serves traditional New Mexican food that you would recommend and that will still be open on a Sunday evening? Also, the next day (Monday), we have until about 3:30 p.m. to see some sights. Considering we have such a short amount of time, what places would you recommend? We would love to see some of the traditional architecture, an art gallery or two, a marketplace or two, and whatever else you might recommend.

i have a ceramic piece of art by an artist Ivan D. It is dated "93, and also numbered. Who is he>?
Q. This is a southwestern piece-maybe New Mexico or Arizona. It depicts the front of an adobe or pueblo. This was given to me years ago as a gift, but I don't know the artists last name. Any ideas how to research to find this artist?

A. without a last name it is difficult to do any research. you could send a jpeg to ceramic galleries in New Mexico or Arizona. but it is probably by an amateur artist that has no commercial value.

A. Read the book and do your own homework. It is a good book with a valid point. You won't learn anything by getting answers handed to you. I don't care what the circumstances are. The whole point of education is to make you smarter and more capable in the future. If you cheat you might get a diploma, but you'll fail at life.

Southwest (Texas/Arizona/New Mexico?) vacation - looking for recommendations?
Q. Looking for a safe, quiet clean area in Southwest for a vacation for my wife and I. We're both in our 30s, looking at decompressing. We'd be happy with some quaint little city, hopefully with a nice clean beach, local shops and dining. We both like exploring art, foot, etc. We're not high maintenance, so don't need high end. It's hard to find out about the smaller towns, so looking for advice. We both have high stress jobs, so looking for quite and relaxing. Wouldn't mind if it was an hour or two outside of a large city. Bed and breakfast, affordable hotel, etc. are all fine.

A. You gotta go to White Sands, New Mexico. It's nice as hell and fun running up the sand dunes. Whitest sand I've ever seen. Take a empty bottle and fill it up w/ the sand [don't know if it'd legal but who cares]. Went when I was younger and I still remember it like it was yesterday :D

I'm a Latina artist looking for volunteer opportunities in New Zealand or Mexico. Suggestions?
Q. Essentially, I'd like to volunteer without having to pay my own money for the opportunity, which never makes sense to me. If you've viewed volunteer websites or volunteered yourself, you know what I'm referring to. Plus, I'm near dirt poor. I'd prefer to work with kids (from any financial/racial background) within the art field. I only speak English but might be able to swing a little Spanish. I have a BA in Media Arts and an excellent background in the fine art / administrative fields. I'd hate to go to any country where the weather's terrible as I've already spent more than 2 decades living in a crappy climate and am prone to getting sick during extreme weather. A. I don't know about Arizona or Texas but I haven't been able to find any universities in new mexico offering fashion degrees. All of the major universities (UNM, NMSU and ENMU) in New Mexico offer a variety of degrees in the arts but nothing in fashion. Of the three states I would imagine Texas would most likely have a university offering a fashion degree...although if you were really serious about it you might want to head either to the west (California) or to the eastern part of the country where fashion design is a more popular degree pursuit. Good luck in your search!

Best areas to stay in Mexico City?
Q. My hubby and I are planning a trip to Mexico City for the winter holidays and new years. We are in our 40's, active, and into the hustle and bustle of city life. Although we love culture, we do not want to spend our time in all the art museums and churches. Can you recommend a cool neighborhood to stay in that is safe, close to cafes/food carts/restaurants, subways and attractions? Ie: If NYC were Mexico we would prefer a Time Square/Soho than an Upper East Side.

A. Polanco has a great night life, is close to the subway and is also close to IMHO a museum that is a must, The Antropology and History Museum, some hotels in Polanco or really close: W, Nikko, Presidente Intercontinental, JW Marriot, Wyndham Garden, Camino Real, City Suites Anzures, Casa castelar, Habita.

A. Go to the plaza. There you will want to see the Governors Palace. From the Inn at Loretto you can catch an open air tour bus. This is a must. You can walk down Canyon road and see more art than you can shake a stick at. This city is full of art and culture, delicious food and shopping, hand crafted art by native Americans. I recommend you stay at the Inn of the Governors. Please look at their website. I absolutely love this city.

Has anyone tasted the new Miller Chill beer?
Q. I have not which way iam asking. If so is it good? this what i found Tired of messing around with lime and salt every time you want to drink a Corona? Miller Brewing wants to make your life easier. Aiming at the Hispanic market, Miller is introducing a beer already flavored with lime and salt. Miller Chill, modeled after a popular style of Mexican beer called a chelada, will be test marketed throughout Florida, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and San Diego, said Pete Marino, a spokesman for the Milwaukee-based brewer. The company hopes to eventually expand the line nationwide, he said. The lime green bottles feature green and silver modular designs reminiscent of Aztec art, with the word Chill in bold black letters across the front and Chelada… [cont.]

A. Nope! Not likely to try it, either! Corona requires lime and salt simply to kill the skunkiness created when UV penetrates the clear glass bottle and catalyzes hops oils into mercaptans, part of the stink of a skunk. Without something to try hiding the nastiness, it's undrinkable. (Actually, I think it's undrinkable anyway...) Miller at least uses hops oils which have been chemically stabilized, but why would I want to drink a beer which has been altered and adulterated with lime and salt? I'll stick to more natural brews, thanks, and enjoy them a whole lot more!

How did O'Keefe influence New Mexico culture?
Q. How did Georgia O'Keefe Influence New Mexican Art and Culture?

A. O'Keeffe played a central role in bringing an American art style to Europe at a time when the majority of influence flowed in the opposite direction. This feat enhanced her art-historical importance. She found artistic inspiration in the rural Southwest, particularly in New Mexico. Her style became the standard by which all southwestern art is judged.
